NAHL’s Corpus Christi Ice Rays Announce Coaching Change

The Corpus Christi IceRays of the North American Hockey League has severed ties with the head coach and general manager Al Rooney as of this afternoon. Nate Weossner has been named interim head coach.

Rooney was originally hired by the Ice Rays a year ago as an assistant coach and was elevated to head coach this past summer.

Weossner is a former Des Moines assistant coach in the United States Hockey League and was currently coaching the Des Moines Bucs AAA 16U team.

The Ice Rays are currently in fifth-place in the NAHL’s South Division with 32 points, trailing fourth-place Shreveport by 14.
