USPHL Premier Playoffs- The Snooze Fest Round

Are some of these scores brutal or what?

Feb 23rd Minnesota Moose 10 – Kasson Vipers 0.

It only took till the Moose scored the 10th(!) goal for the Vipers to pull their starter and give their back up 4:50 of playing time (Patrick Roy would be pissed!).

Feb 23rd Midwest Blackbirds 9 – Tri City Icehawks 2.

Um, Midwest is only playing with 11 skaters total. That’s right, a 60 minute game with 11 skaters and still scored a whopping 9 goals on 54 shots.

At the end of the day, some of these games are almost pointless. Looking over the box scores, it doesn’t even make sense, besides the owners coughing up the money, how some of these Tier 3 leagues allow some of these teams to operate with such a low roster count. Good for Midwest for winning 9-2 but, I’m sure to advance farther into the playoffs, it would be much better to be playing with a 16 if not even a better wait for it…. FULL ROSTER(!) at this point in the year.

UPSET OF THE SERIES: Goes to the Dells Ducks defeating the Hudson Havoc 2-1 in their best of 3 series.

MVP of the 1st Round:

Skater: Alec Curry

Despite being on a team that rostered 11 skaters, Alec Curry kept putting his name on the scoresheet with 11 (5g and 6a) in two games for the Midwest Blackbirds making him the TDC Skater MVP of the First Round.

Goaltender: Emil Norrman

After giving up only one goal in the first game, letting in 6 the next, but coming back and making 52 whopping saves for the shutout and series clinching win, I’m giving Dells Ducks Goaltender Emil Norrman the TDC Goaltending MVP of the First Round.

Congrats to (all series are out of a possible 3 games):

The Jersey Hitmen winning 2-0 their series against Jersey Shore Whalers.

The New Jersey Rockets winning 2-0 their series against the Philadelphia Hockey Club

The Syracuse Stars winning 2-0 their series against the Rochester Monarchs

The Midwest Blackbirds winning 2-0 their series against the Tri City Icehawks

The Minnesota Moose winning 2-0 their series against the Kasson Vipers.

The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings winning 2-0 their series against the Minnesota Mullets

The Florida Junior Blades winning 2-1 in their series against the Tampa Bay Juniors

The New Hampshire Jr Monarchs 2-1 in their series against the Islanders Hockey Club

The Minnesota Blue Ox 2-1 their series against the Rum River Mallards

Last but not least, can some of these teams work on coming up with better team names in the off season?
