St. Johns Junior Hockey League Shutting Down

After just three weeks, the SJJHL will forgo the remainder of their season in the interest of its players and their safety. It was almost exactly one year ago to the day that they shutdown their 2020 season because of COVID. The beginning of February was an exciting time for the league as they thought they’d finally be able to start playing again. After just a handful of games this year, the league announced its intentions to cancel the season.

This puts the league on thin ice as players essentially wasted/lost two years of eligibility and have fallen behind their competition. As of now there haven’t been any calls for the league to reimburse players or add a year to player’s eligibility.
