Trimble’s Drill of the Week

Trimble's Drill of the Week - The Hockey Focus

Active Resistance offers more realistic game sequences than Cones, Tires or Obstacles. Think about ways to incorporate coaches or helpers in your drills. Here are ideas.

Neutral Zone Variations with Coaches

Lot of options here to use with Coaches as active resistance. In this drill the coaches start with a pass, then the players escape pressure away from the coach (puck protection) before gaining space and chipping past the coach before finishing with a shot on goal. Other variations include- Cut Backs, Dekes, Mowhawks and much more. The variations are endless. Here is a video.

Knockout

Simple and fun game. Love it to finish a practice or clinic session.

Small defined space. Players have to keep their puck while knocking other players pucks out of the space. Keep shrinking the space until you have one final champion.
