Junior Hockey News – Weekly Update

Leagues and players who were affected by COVID over the past 15 months got some huge news last week. A hockey showcase is coming to Erie, Pennsylvania. Players from leagues across North America will congregate at Erie Sports Park from May 31 through June 13 for the huge event.

The showcase is for players who are eligible for the 2021 NHL Draft and will provide a platform for players who have not been able to display their talent over the last year. Over 150 players have registered so far and more are projected to sign up over the coming weeks.

Getting back on the ice with fellow teammates and other top talent will be a huge boost for these kids. Logistically, players from Canada may have a difficult time getting across the border which could cause issues. The same goes for players traveling from out of state. As of now, things are looking good and the event should be an awesome opportunity for these players.

Rapid City Gets Hockey Team

The NA3HL announced that Missoula Junior Bruins would be relocating to Rapid City and renamed the Badlands Sabres.

“Rapid City is a community with a long tradition and history of supporting sports teams at all levels, from youth to the professional ranks. We welcome the Badlands Sabres and the North American 3 Hockey League to Rapid City,” said Mayor, Steve Allender.

The Badlands Sabres will play their home games at Roosevelt Park Ice Arena and the community is welcoming them in with open arms!
