Tim Rego of Mansfield, Mass., is in his first year of Junior hockey playing for the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). He has had a very successful year playing for Brooks and is currently the second-highest scoring American in the AJHL, as well as the second-highest scoring defenseman.

North Of The Border: Rego Finding Back of Net In AJHL En Route To Cornell University - The Hockey Focus

Cornell has taken notice and Rego committed to that NCAA Division I institution in January of this year.

Rego played a year of 16U hockey for the Boston Jr. Bandits during the 2015-16 season. In 28 games he put up 9 points and 20 penalty minutes with games split between the EJEPL and the ECEL.

The following season he made the jump to prep school hockey at Williston Northampton School where he posted respectable 5-10-15 numbers in 28 games as a sophomore. As a junior at Williston Northampton, he tallied 4-11-15 in 27 games. In his senior season of prep school hockey, Rego wore the “C” for Northampton and put up 13-11-24 numbers in 27 games.

This season Rego is teammates with North Of The Border alumni, Randy Hernandez, and has put up 24-37-61 numbers this season for Brooks, good for 20th overall in league scoring. He only trailed Hernandez in overall American scoring the AJHL and also finished second in defenseman scoring. Brooks had a first round bye in the playoffs and awaits the winner of the Canmore Eagles and Camrose Kodiaks series. Look for Rego to make an immediate impact in these playoffs.

We wish Tim and the Bandits good luck in this seasons playoffs!
