Trimble’s Drill of the Week- 1 v 2 Defenseman Escape Drill
Position your defenseman on the bluelines with 2 forwards on the red line as seen in above photo. On whistle coach passes a puck to one of the d’s as the other defenseman stays at the opposite blueline. Forwards forecheck.
If the forwards steal the puck on the forecheck before the defenseman is able to pass to his partner, they go in and attack 2 v 1 on the goal. If the defenseman is able to escape, create room and pass to his partner, the forwards regroup. Then get the puck back and attack 2 v 1. Great drill for offensive forechecking and 2 v 1 concepts as well as defenseman skills. Making a good first pass and playing with your head up. Watch video to see drill in action.
