USHL Update - Season Cancelled - The Hockey Focus

Players of the Week

Prior to the pause on the season, three players were named players of the week for the 24th week of the USHL season.

Carson Bantle- Carson was named Forward of the Week after scoring one goal and recording five assists in two games the week prior. It’s been a tumultuous season for the Capitols thus far but Carson has provided a small bright spot for the team. This is the second time Carson has won the award this season.

Jordan Power– For the first time in his USHL career, Jordan Power has been named Defenseman of the Week. Power recorded four assists in two games last week, one which was victorious. Power is committed to play for the University of Clarkson in NY and will look to continue the Stars’ success the remainder of the season, if and when that happens.

Christian Stoever- With a rare weekend sweep for the Capitols, goaltender Christian Stoever was named Goaltender of the Week for his stellar play. He allowed one goal in each game but recorded the victory on his way to a weekend save percentage of .978%. This was the third time he has received the award this season.

With just over a month left in the regular season, the Steel, in their best season in franchise history, will not be crowned champions and will need to find the right pieces for next year’s run to the cup. Player awards will be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime, check me out on Twitter @Nwinansw for other junior hockey news.
