Western USPHL Update

NORTHWEST DIVISION

BELLINGHAM BLAZERS (1-10-1) The Blazers were oh so close last weekend, but they only had one game this weekend and they made it count, earning their first USPHL victory – with Surrey, BC native, Kai Rivas, posting a 42-save shutout against the visiting Royals.

ROCK SPRINGS PROSPECTORS (4-3-1) It was great watching this week’s action when Rock Springs hosted the #1 team in the nation, Vernal – though they fell in a very entertaining contest, the camera work was fantastic and the first-time broadcaster did excellent – very excited to watch upcoming games!

ROGUE VALLEY ROYALS (2-8-0) Rogue Valley had the Washington State woes this weekend, dropping all three contests – tired legs in Bellingham on Sunday aside, the Royals played quite well in Seattle on Friday night as the game was a lot closer than the 5-1 score indicates, and Saturday’s nail-biter was a ton of fun.

SEATTLE TOTEMS (9-3-0) After a rough weekend in Vernal in which they dropped all three contests, the Totems bounced back strong against visiting Rogue Valley, taking home both wins and looking good in those sweaters while doing it.

VERNAL OILERS (8-0-0) The #1 team in the nation added another win while visiting Rock Springs in a tough contest in which they came out on top – as I said many times last year while he was playing with Ogden … opponents got Tarantinoed.

MOUNTAIN DIVISION

IDAHO FALLS SPUD KINGS (0-11-0) The Spud Kings left the 1st period of Sunday’s silent game with a 1-0 lead – the first time in their short history – and with less than 2 minutes remaining in the 2nd, it was still a tied game. The Spud Kings are starting to come together and the wins will follow.

NORTHERN COLORADO EAGLES (8-4-0) NoCo hosted the Idaho Falls this weekend and took home both wins – rookie and local goaltender Even Stringer looked good in net, facing 57 shots in two games while only allowing 2 goals.

OGDEN MUSTANGS (8-2-0) Pretty confident a rivalry was born this weekend. See below.

PROVO PREDATORS (2-6-0) Pretty confident a rivalry was born this weekend. See above.

PUEBLO BULLS (5-5-1) The Bulls hosted a 3-games series against the Outliers this weekend and put up a hell of a fight, but fell in all 3 contests – game 2 was in their hands until some ill-fated mistakes – and Thomas Soucy scored what will be one of the beauties of the year.

UTAH OUTLIERS (9-0-1) The Outliers are on a quest this season to not only return to Nationals, but with the way they’re playing – win it all. It is truly very hard to find many flaws in their game right now.

PACIFIC DIVISION

BAKERSFIELD ROUGHNECKS (2-6-0) The Roughnecks have been off for two weeks, but it’s time to hit the ice again in preparation for the visiting #1 team in the Pacific, the Fresno Monsters visit this Halloween weekend.

FRESNO MONSTERS (9-3-0) Fresno went into Lake Tahoe and dominated most of the play, taking home all available points – Chris Miraldo was on fire, netting six goals including a hattrick and two GWGs.

LAKE TAHOE LAKERS (1-11-0) It was another rough weekend for Lake Tahoe, as they dropped all three games to visiting Fresno – a bright spot was the play of Austrian netminder Fabian Pozzera, stopping all but 10 of the 104 shots he faced – and Fresno’s tic-tac-toe passing didn’t make that easy for Pozzera, Guldenmann or Walgren.

LAS VEGAS T-BIRDS (7-2-0) The T-Birds found their way back to City National Arena after a couple weeks and tried to make up for the time away by putting up 30 goals in just three games to the visiting Shredders – they looked even better wearing those 3rd jerseys!

LONG BEACH SHREDDERS (3-9-0) The Shredders traveled to Vegas and met a well rested T-Birds team – and the masked men were busy as the T-Birds got off over 120 shots in the first two games, with Dee & Baxter exchanging the net for the Shredders during both games, and Goldsmith stepping in for the third game, facing an additional 50 shots.

ONTARIO JR REIGN (8-2-0) The Reign didn’t have any scheduled games this weekend and will be playing a home-at-home against the Shredders on Halloween weekend. At least I’ll be able to watch the away team celebrate goals during one of those games…

SAN DIEGO SABERS (7-2-0) San Diego has been off since the weekend of Oct 7-9, in which they bested Fresno in 2 of 3 very fun and entertaining games – they’ll be hosting Lake Tahoe this Halloween weekend and will be looking to add W’s to the win column.
