With the first slate of games beginning on September 25th, here’s a brief season preview for the 2025-26 Eastern Hockey League (EHL & EHLP):


League Overview & Format

  • The Eastern Hockey League enters its 13th season, with 31 teams total — 18 in the EHL (Tier II), and 13 in the Premier (EHLP) division (Tier III). Eastern Hockey League
  • The EHL is divided into four divisions: East, North, Central, and South. Eastern Hockey League
  • The Premier (EHLP) side is split into two conferences: Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Eastern Hockey League

Key Storylines & Teams to Watch

New Jersey 87’s (Defending Champions)

  • The 87’s will defend their titles at both the EHL and EHLP levels. Eastern Hockey League
  • There’s a coaching change: co-owner Adam Houli stepped down as head coach taking over Johnstown in the NAHL, and Matt Kiernan (previously assistant and Co- Owner with Houli) takes the bench. Eastern Hockey League
  • They retain core players like forwards Alex Haar and Ivan Kulagin, plus defenseman Troy Mulholland. Eastern Hockey League

New Hampshire Avalanche

  • The Avalanche return with a veteran core. Eastern Hockey League
  • Last season, three of their forwards ranked among the top 20 in league scoring: Danny Storella (54 pts), Ben Carfora (52 pts), Ryan O’Leary (48 pts). Eastern Hockey League

Making Noise and Climbing the Ladder

  • Express Hockey Club: Won the regular season last year and bring back top scorers Vile Bodin and Nate Brissette. Eastern Hockey League
  • Providence Capitals: After a strong breakout season, they’re retooling. Returnees Anders Alvers and Luke Haynes highlight the roster. Eastern Hockey League
  • New England Wolves: Their EHL team had 34 wins last year, for 3rd best in the entire league. They’ll lean on reinforcements from their EHLP side (e.g. Cam Plumb, Zach Spicuzza, Charles-Etienne Roy) to boost their depth, but also return standouts Felipe- Miguel Miron, Ryan Sember and Julian Karagiannis . Rising & Rebuilding Teams

  • New York Apple Core: With Josh Fusco returning as coach, they hope to remount after a disappointing season. Eastern Hockey League
  • Philadelphia Little Flyers: Missed playoffs in a tight South Division last season. They bring back Tadeas Bezdek (goaltender) and add call-ups from EHLP like Owen Ozer, Donte Neve, and Justin Celentino. Eastern Hockey League

EHLP Highlights & Expansion

  • The Atlantic City Seals (formerly Adirondack Jr. Thunder) join the EHLP. Eastern Hockey League
  • The EHLP’s Northeast Conference is stacked: 5 of 7 teams last year had 20+ wins (Wolves, Avalanche, Capitals, Seahawks, Valley Jr Warriors). Eastern Hockey League
  • The 87’s EHLP squad will run with a largely new roster; only Luke Glover and Michael Green return. Eastern Hockey League
  • The New England Wolves, off their record setting 38 win regular season, return 7 players to the roster including Robert Horejs, Andis Rupeiks, and Ivars Veisbardis. The EHLP Wolves have made the frozen finals for 2 years in a row and are looking to make it a 3rd run to the championship series.
