Drill of the Week- Swap Drills with 2 variations
Drills start with 2 lines on each side. On whistle pucks get passed back and forth as players move to the blueline. At the blueline the pucks ends up with the player on the outside.
In this variation, the inside player breaks off and heads to the far end of the ice in support of the far player. The far player, who is approaching the red line, cuts back and puck protects, buying time and space for his teammate to join him.
Each end then attacks the net 2 on 0 before finishing with a chance on goal.
Variation 2- again drills start with 2 lines on each side. On whistle pucks get passed back and forth as players move to the blueline. At the blueline the pucks ends up with the player on the outside.
On this variation, the inside player breaks off at the blueline and calls for a long stretch pass. He recieves the puck from the player at the other end who then joins the puck carrier/ pass reciever.
Finish with a chance on net in a 2 on 0.
Drills reinforce passing, timing, pass receiving, game like scenario in a quick uptempo setting. Enjoy
