The New England Wolves Hosted their Annual JBT game at the Merrill Fay Arena on January 17th and raised over $50,000.00 for the Cure Starts Now foundation to battle childhood cancer. The New England Wolves are located in rural Laconia, New Hampshire and are members of the USPHL as well as field teams from Learn to Play up to NCDC Junior Hockey.
The annual event allows shooters to fundraise amongst their local community and compete in a mini 1 on 1 shootout challenge during the intermissions of the Junior game played on that evening. This years matchup featured the hometown Wolves vs the Islanders Hockey Club from Massachusetts. In front of a packed crowd of 500 fans, the event is one of the highlights of the year on the Lakes Region calendar.
In total more than $50,000.00 was raised including local Gilford High School freshman Jacoby Drouin raising $9,562.00 individually.
The shootout was won by Brooklyn Rainey, and the Wolves emerged victorious in an 8-3 triumph. Latvian native Andis Rupeiks recorded a hat trick.
Thank you to all who participated, and in particular the The Thompson Family, the Islanders Hockey Club, the Merrill Fay Arena staff, and the USPHL. To learn more about DIPG and the Cure Starts Now click on this link- Home | The Cure Starts Now
