As a goalie, playing in the Western Hockey League (WHL) as a 16-year-old is no easy task. Dustin Wolf, however, made an immediate impact when he went to play for the Everett Silvertips for the 2017-18 season. The 2001-born Tustin, Calif., native is currently in his third season for Everett and is putting up excellent numbers. The Calgary Flames took note of the young goaltender last year and selected him in the 7th round (214th overall) in last year’s NHL draft.

Growing up in California, Wolf played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings organization. In his WHL draft year he played for the Bantam AAA Jr. Kings team and posted a respectable 2.99 GAA with a .905 save percentage in seven games.

The Silvertips drafted Wolf in the 5th round (104th overall). During the following season in 2016-17 he played for the Jr. Kings U16 team. Wolf put up impressive numbers that season with a 1.63 GAA with a .941 save percentage. The following season he would make the jump to Major Junior Hockey.

As a 16-year-old WHL rookie during the 2017-18 season, Wolf served as the Silvertips backup to now-Philadelphia Flyers goalie Carter Hart. In 20 games that year Wolf had a 2.25 GAA and .928 save percentage.

The following season Wolf stepped into the starting role and carried a heavy load with 61 games, posting a league-best 1.69 GAA and a .936 save percentage. This season Wolf has continued to put up great numbers in 44 games so far he holds a 1.83 GAA with a .938 save percentage. Everett will be looking to make a deep run in the WHL playoffs this year with the help of Wolf.

Wolf also played for Team USA at the World Juniors over the Christmas break. He appeared in one game and had a 3.00 GAA with a .850 save percentage.

We wish both Dustin and the Silvertips well as they are winding the season down and looking towards making a run in the playoffs this season.
