Russian Hockey Coach Fired For Kicking Player

A Russian junior hockey coach was fired for kicking one of his players on the bench during a game. Vladimir Gromilin, the 56-year-old head coach of the MHL club Sarmaty Orenburg, was giving some instruction to a player and out of nowhere he delivers a swift kick to the players leg.

The Sarmaty Orenburg promptly fired Vladimir after the incident.

Not justifying this at all, but isn’t this just what you expect to see on a Russian hockey bench? I am not surprised to see this type of behavior. With that being said, it would absolutely be justified if this player gave a little leg sweep on the coach and completely took him out. Would have loved to see that.

Hopefully Sarmaty brings on a new head coach and he’s a little more gentle with his coaching strategies. We will see how it goes and what comes next.
